Join CityWatch

Citywatch CCTV Northern Ireland is a partnership initiative that provides local businesses and retailers with two or three elements – businesses choose what is best for them.
There is a small annual fee for membership of Citywatch.

CCTV – Currently there are 117 cameras in operation that Citywatch CCTV Operators monitor across the Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council area.  These cameras are located across Lisburn City Centre, Omniplex, Moira, Hillsborough, Castle Gardens, Moira Demesne, Leisureplex and Civic Centre.

Radiolink – 70 local businesses currently have radios issued by the Citywatch initiative, each business is given a unique call sign and they contact the Citywatch CCTV Monitoring Room when they need assistance.  The monitoring room has direct access to Police via radio when needed.

Retailers against Crime [RAC] – RAC work in partnership with Citywatch CCTV Northern Ireland to provide valuable information on retail crime offenders, vehicles and crime trends.  When businesses choose to include RAC as part of their Citywatch membership, they receive a unique user and password to the Retailers Against Crime website.  This allows businesses to keep up to date retail crime information.

Collectively working together, we can maximise the impact of the scheme to maintain safer public streets, reduce criminal activity and protect profits.

Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council area has a large retail sector that not only attracts investment and shoppers, but criminals from across Northern Ireland and further afield.

This partnership gives local businesses an opportunity to become part of a worthwhile initiative and as each member is issued with a radio, it provides a ‘peace of mind’ for retailers, the majority of which do not have security staff located at their business, they know ‘Charlie Charlie’ [Citywatch monitoring room call sign’] is there when they need us.

Citywatch provide assistance for many reasons including:  retail crime, suspected drink driving, missing people, vulnerable people, disorderly behaviour, criminal damage, assault/fights, road traffic collisions to name a few.

This is a worthwhile partnership initiative to be part of and it is open to all public, private and community sector organisations across Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council area.
